Statement of intent:
In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This framework specifies the requirement for learning and development in the Early Years and outlines the areas of learning. These areas are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Children develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through a combination of both play-based learning and more focused teacher led sessions. Pupils learn by playing and exploring, being active learners and through creative and critical thinking in all areas.
Our curriculum is shaped around our children’s interests and is matched to each individual’s needs, appropriate for their age and development. Our indoor and outdoor provision is designed to ignite children’s natural curiosity and inspire children to explore, investigate and be motivated to develop a love of learning. Rich first-hand experiences alongside our provision and thoughtful adult interactions support, facilitate and extend children’s learning and development, enabling them to reach and exceed their potential.
Our school values are embedded within our curriculum, fostering a forgiving and caring ethos where children are encouraged to “let their light shine.” Children are encouraged to be resilient and independent thinkers, ready for the transition to Year 1.
